Acquisition of a majority share of Beaton Research and Consulting in 2009, setting up Beaton Capital Pty Ltd and co-raising the initial capital for Beaton Professional Services Investment Fund. Beaton Research & Consulting is a bench-marking, analytics and high-end market research house serving organisations that provide professional and financial services in the Asia-Pacific region. Exiting the investment in Beaton Research and Consulting in 2010.
Advising and leading the Acquisition of Clear Lead for WDScott Ltd in June 2008. Clear Lead was a professional services firm providing consulting, solutions and project management services to the government and corporate sectors. The merger further enhanced the capability of WDScott Ltd in Australia while the business was growing strongly at the time in the UK.
Advising on the WDScott Corporate Restructure in June 2007 and raising AUD$10m capital from a sophisticated investor base in Australia and the Rapid Realisation Fund in the UK. WDScott was founded in 1938 by Sir Walter Scott and was Australia’s largest international management consulting firm prior to its acquisition in 1985 by Coopers and Lybrand to form the base, with Urwick Orr, of the PwC Management Consulting brand that was sold to IBM in October 2002.
Originating the opportunity for Cardno to acquire the Emerging Markets Group in Washington and London. The Emerging Markets Group was a management buyout from Deloitte Touche Tohmatsu in August 2004. This event brought offices in Washington DC, London, and Brussels together under unified leadership and marked the culmination of more than twenty years of experience as Deloitte Touche Tohmatsu’s specialized development consulting unit. Acil Australia agreed a merger plan with The Emerging Markets Group prior to their merger with Cardno Ltd in July 2005 that lead to the eventual acquisition by Cardno Ltd of the Emerging Market Group in May 2007.
Originating and transacting the acquisition of Agrisystems in the UK (Oxford Consulting) in October 2006 for Cardno as Executive Director of Cardno Ltd and International CEO of Cardno Acil (now Cardno Emerging Markets Group).
Originated and transacted the sale of Acil Australia Pty Ltd to Cardno Ltd (ASX:CDD) in July 2005. Cardno is an integrated professional services provider, locally delivering the specialist advice necessary to create or improve the physical and social infrastructure that underpins communities around the world.
From its foundations as a civil engineering consultancy, Cardno expanded through the merger with Acil Australia and their sister companies Agrisystems and the Emerging Markets Group to become a Physical and Social Infrastructure professional services group including management and environmental services as well as project management of international development assistance programs.

Involved as a Founding Director of Mainsheet Corporate in the buy-out from Freehill Hollingdale & Page in December 2000. Mainsheet Corporate was a strategy consulting and corporate advisory firm offering clients a unique combination of strategic, operational and transactional advice. Mainsheet Corporate was sold to PWC in May 2009.
Advised on the deal with Cap Gemini in the Asia Pacific Region in June 1998 for Compaq to acquire Digital Equipment Corporation, completing the largest merger to date in the computer industry.
Originated and transacted the sale of Aptech Australia Pty Ltd to IBM in October 1996. Aptech was Australia’s largest privately owned management consulting firm in the day. Lead the sale of the company to IBM, the first management consulting firm acquisition outside the US made by Lou Gerstner, then President and CEO of IBM.
Advising and leading WDScott in the Acquisition of Global Justice Solutions in July 2008. Global Justice Solutions is a specialist international consultancy and project management company, with offices in Perth, Sydney and London. The merger with WDScott completed the three prong strategy defined by the WDScott board of the day, international consulting in the financial services Sector, the People business and the Development Assistance business, the three sectors of the original WDScott firm strategy.
Advising on the Acquisition of Market U for WDScott in January 2008 to build the WDScott People brand across Australia. Market U was a recognised leader in Executive Search in the disciplines of Corporate Affairs, Communication and Marketing. These services were complemented with a range of consulting services including Career Coaching and Business Transformation. The Market U search and contracting business was fully integrated into WDScott People in November 2011.
