Yarman is a very experienced and commercially minded business professional. CPA qualiﬁed in the UK, Hong Kong and Australia, he has almost four decades of experience as a practicing accountant and in senior management and advisory roles, spanning Asia, Australia and the Middle East.
Heading up our Singapore-based Asian offering and driving our expansion into professional services strategic consulting in the Asia Paciﬁc region, Yarman understands the operational difficulties in implementing advice which other consultants often lack.
Yarman was often the only non-lawyer on global and regional management boards and has helped ﬁrms the calibre of Baker McKenzie and Allen & Overy to successfully develop and implement global and regional strategies.
As Regional Operating Officer and Chief Financial Officer at Baker McKenzie, one of his major achievements was his successful leadership of the Integration Management Office to bring two major business units of the firm together. This integration created a single business unit with around 2,000 staff representing 55 per cent of the APAC business with revenues of approximately $US400m.
While Director and Chief Operating Officer, Asia and the Middle East for Allen & Overy, Yarman managed the entire ﬁnance, administration, HR, marketing and IT functions across Asia, UAE and Saudi Arabia. Yarman was instrumental in negotiating and managing the set-up of joint ventures in Singapore, Tokyo and Saudi Arabia.
Outside of work, Yarman is an avid golfer and he has a long and distinguished playing and management career with the Hong Kong cricket team. He ﬁrst represented Hong Kong at age 16 and has participated at four World Cup qualifying championships. He was the National Team Captain from 1986 to 1988. He was the Manager of the National Team and a National Selector for a number of years.
